At Burnside, we design, supply and install interlocking Larssen sheet piling retaining walls for permanent and temporary applications. Sheet piling offers many advantages over other methods such as King Post walls, especially in poorer soil conditions as the lateral earth pressure is spread over the continuous wall foundation (embedment) length rather than concentrated in discreet foundation centres. We can provide both temporary and permanent sheet piling installations, permanent walls are often clad with facing brick for better aesthetics. When designing and installing sheet piling it’s critical that you have a crystal clear understanding of the soil conditions, excessive boulders or shallow rocked would mean additional work before the sheet piling installations.

Commonly we pre-auger the ground ahead pf any sheet piling installations, this is so we can achieve deeper dive depths which is often essential depending on the soil and ground composition, it allows us to achieve high retainment wall even when the ground is not optimal or favourable. If the retaining walls are less than 2m then we can save a lot of time and money by installing sheet pile using our hydraulic excavator mounted hammer. If access is restricted to the low side ground on higher walls, we can use specialist side grip MOVAX machinery to install the sheet pile, so we are not relying on the pile hammer access to the top of the uninstalled pile.

Machine weighs in at 37.5 tonnes and has had both hydraulic pumps twined to give an output of 530 litres/ minute.
